Google OS: Foolproof security?

Twitter leak

So, did the recent Twitter leak expose the Google Chrome OS security hazards or were there just some google apps caught in the crossfire?

If we are supposed to store all our documents online, then we´re leaving the protection of all our important stuff up to whoever is providing the security for them. As Google stated themselves in their presentation:

And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.

So they are building an OS where we average Joes don´t have to deal with any of that nasty stuff, like phishing. I like the way they´re thinking, but, personally, don´t think it can really be done. I reckon that, as in real life, viruses adapt and hackers get ever more clever and there´ll always be a way to hack into anything. Saying you can´t be hacked is like painting a bullseye on your site and saying come and get me.

Still, you can´t blame an OS that isn´t even up and running yet for a security breach, right? The fact that hackers invaded Google docs says nothing about the security or lack thereof of Google Chrome OS. Even Twitter buff Buzz Stone himself said:

This attack had nothing to do with any vulnerability in Google Apps which we continue to use.

Oh well, I guess we won´t know anything until the thing is actually up and running!

  • This us yet to be proved that it can or can’t. I’ll wait and see.

  • I not find a section to contact, So what I write here.

just wanted to ask if they have a banner to put on my blog?

  • lol

ummm…google collect all info they can from chrome browser…despite noone wanting it. what makes anyone think that the google os won’t have private backdoors using protocols that aren’t even known yet to do the same? google cannot be trusted ever since they were sold to the banker/it groups.
