Chromebooks are much more popular than we may think

While Chromebooks are far from being full-computer replacements, there is a huge demand from those who seek speed, portability and simplicity. Their recent price strategy may have helped, but we also have other less affordable Chromebooks doing very well. Just how much popularity are Chromebooks gaining? Well, a quick trip to my local Best Buy is enough to make me realize there is definitely a demand for them, with stores constantly running out of stock. But if you want more solid proof, now Amazon has it for you.

Amazon’s Best Sellers list is not exactly a representation of the whole country (or world), but it gives us an idea of what demand is like. It is surprising to see multiple Chromebooks make it to the very top of the Best Sellers list, but it is even more exciting to see that the new Samsung Chromebook is literally the very top best-selling laptop computer.

Yes, it is beating Macbooks and a plethora of other laptop computers. The new device is currently followed by the $200 Acer C7 Chromebook at #6, the Samsung Series 5 Chromebook at #8 and the 3G Samsung Chromebook ranking #13. And that is, only looking at the top 20. Not bad, right?

Of course, many factors come into play. Some of these Chromebooks are brand new and still getting much hype, but the Samsung Series 5 550 Chromebook has been in the top 100 for 202 days. And it is not very cheap at $449.99. Clearly, our beloved Chrome OS devices are doing well regardless of their affordability.

There is a good demand, and these web-based computers have proven to be superior in some ways. They are fast, sync perfectly with Chrome, look great and are portable. Not to mention they have great battery life… save for the Acer C7, but the $200 price point and extensive variety of ports may make up for that.

Oh, and the Samsung Chromebook also has a very respectable place in Amazon’s Top Rated list. It’s nice to see Chromebooks receiving so much love, but do you guys believe they deserve it? Do you think Chromebooks will continue to thrive after a while? Long live the Chromebook!

Where can I get one for free and are they going to have a chrome tablet too?

  • Edgar Cervantes

We don’t know about the Chrome tablet yet, it’s still a rumor. As for a free Chromebook, there is really no way to do that anymore… I mean it’s a gadget, they can’t just give them away like that.

I bought the Acer C7 quite recently and love it! I had to briefly hound my local Best Buy in order to secure it.
