Hello,
Just started playing with Chrome - pretty impressed so far, my thanks.
Just a few random thoughts for 'features' I've not seen directly requested on a quick browse through the forum...
-Themes:
Would be nice if the default theme could be changed without hacking .dll's
Would also be good if GC was able to take on the current appearance the Windoze UI...
...Hmmm, Window Blinds support - must check this...
-Tablet PC:
I'm a recent convert to TabletPC's. Lack of direct stilus support is a turn-off for any app I may potentially use...
...Firefox 3's support for this was a great thing for me - it was that or use IE, ug.
-Search for... on Page:
Maybe I've missed this - as to me it's such an obvious one. Search for a word / phrase in the current web-page.
TBH I find this one indispensable.
-Spell-Check:
Glad to see this is present, but is it me or is the GC implementation a bit, well, funky?
It seems very hard (hit & miss) to get the suggestions menu to work for highlighted 'errors'. Maybe this applies to copy+paste in general?
Also, an option for adding new words would be nice.
-Plug-ins:
Um, sorry again if I've missed something. I've seen plenty of suggestions for plug-ins but no obvious requests for support of this in GC.
Might I suggest any temptation to support Firefox's plug-in system is resisted, but use a proprietary system..?
I'm most pleased to see the efforts that have been made to make browsing more secure, 'borrowing' such support will undo this to a large extent.
-Finally:
A HEARTFELT PLEA
You seem keen to keep it 'minimalist but functional'. GOOD! Please do your best to avoid the other great 'evil' of PC ownership: Software bloat & resource-hogging.
It's genuinely unforgivable the way Windoze software vendors seem to treat system resources as limitless & regular upgrading as a 'given'.
NO!
I'm sorry, but IMO as a base-line; if applications software won't run well on a 500mhz processor with 512mb of ram then the developer either doesn't know how to code or is very lazy!
Even then I'd say the above numbers are too high, but one must take account of Windoze's tendency to gobble resources.
Thanks.
