    Default Thumbnail control

    I like the thumbnail display but I do not want the automation.

    I want to be able to put the links I prefer there and lock them. Why does Chrome insist on deciding for me which thumbnails show?

    I also am bothered by the fact that some pages I visit regularly never show up as a thumbnail. I do not know why.

    Finally, I should be able to set the number of thumbnails to more than 6.

    Do you type the address in the address bar from the new tab page?

    Because when I do that and go back to the new tab page after typing the address to the address bar, a new thumbnail appears every time I do this.

    The reason that Chrome insists on deciding for me which thumbnails show is because that is the functionality of the New Tab Page by design. The New Tab Page has always been designed to show the most frequently visited webpages.

    You can put your own links there and change the number of thumbnails using the Speed Dial extension:
