Default Is it just me, or the middle scroll wheel neglected?

I don't see a middle scroll wheel preference anywhere..

    2 things that irk me:

When pressing down on the scroll wheel while over a link, does not open a new tab but shows the "traditional scrolling arrows"
When pressing the middle scroll wheel to the right or left (in hopes that the browser will go back or forward respectively) does nothing

edit: the scrolling itself is also "choppy" instead of smooth scrolling (once again, another preference)

Yeah, i thought i was the only one that noticed this problem >< It really irks me too and I'm pretty sure Google will fix it soon. I got to say, it's really clean and fast.

Using the middle mouse button over a link definitely opens a new tab for me. Middle mouse click on the tab closes the tab. However, middle mouse over no link, does not provide a scroll thingy up/down for me.

I was able to get new tabs by pressing the middle mouse button on links. Not sure about any differences except that I have Chrome/0.2.149.27 downloaded approx. 7:30 (GMT -04) on 09-02-2008. However, scrolling arrows are not showing up at all when middle mouse button is clicked.

Yes, this is kind of annoying. I determined that it is approx. 3:4 to IE and 3:7 to FireFox (meaning that Chrome did 3 wheel clicks down vs. 4 in IE to reach a certain point using a Dell mouse). This would mean that IE is "choppy" compared to FireFox. IE seems to have a slower shift on the scrolling. Where if Firefox and
Chrome scroll similar just at different amounts. Thus, Chrome should tune down the amount of movement in one scroll to fix this.

For me scrolling down is double fast, too fast and no ability to scroll up at all.

    It really is neglected

Scrolling with mouse wheel is fine imo, and opens new tabs fine.

As i said in the idea thread above, I always click in the scroll wheel so I can just move the mouse to scroll the page any-which way, so having that back would be cool Mouse-preferences so everyones happy will be even better.

On a laptop using the side slider I suffer similar. Scrolling up is also too fast. Using a mouse with the middle wheel I have no probs.
