    Default Installing a plugin?

I've looked around the forums, but I can't seem to find out how to install this plugin. I've got this .crx file of 2.3 kb that's supposed to open in Google Chrome, but after clicking it nothing seems to happen. Is this a bug or am I doing something very wrong?

posting your OS and version of Chrome in addition to the extension would help anybody suggesting a solution

Thank you. I just updated Chrome today to 2.0.173.43, and I'm running it on the Win7 RC, build 7100. The file itself is smoothscroll.crx, which Explorer reads as Chrome Extention Installer. That's probably correct. When I execute it when Chrome is closed, it just opens the start page. I also have this little application called ZoomSlave running, but I don't think it has any effect on this.

Can you check whether the particular extension is supported in your version of Chrome?
AFAIK extensions are only supported in the Beta and Dev versions of Chrome

I can't find any information about extensions for particular versions. Can I download a beta anywhere? It's not listed at the regular download page anymore.

    download chromechannel-2.0.exe

    http://code.google.com/p/chromium/downloads/list

to change the channel of Chrome

    then select either Beta from
    here http://www.google.com/intl/en/landing/chrome/beta/
    or select Dev Channel from
    here http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=devchannel

That's some improvement, but now, after redownloading the file (in both beta and dev) I get an 'Extensions not enabled' message. Where do I enable this? I don't see an option for this in the properties window of Chrome.
