It's probably completely pointless to mention this here, but if this is what Google expects users to do to verify they're using SSL, they've made a horribly poor UI decision and should probably be sent back to college or something. Having a user look for an "s" buried in a URL is not only error prone, but it requires the user to actually know what "https" means; that's simply ridiculous. I can guarantee most of the users I know barely even know what SSL means. This is *precisely* why user interfaces use metaphors like locks to convery meaning.
I cannot believe the google people told you to look at the URL to see id you are on secure web site!
Definitely they should go someplace and learn about UI, maybe from Microsoft!. I would not buy anything from google accept search engine, Bing is pretty cool but I am used to google but hey I used to use yahoo as well.
For sure would not purchase Nexus One, If their Phone is good as their browser I am out.
