Default How do I change my themes?

Since there is no application working for the current version of Chrome, it is getting to be a hassle when changing Themes

How do I make it easier for myself to change themes under WinXP?

    I create a shortcut using Send To pointing to the theme folder of the current Chrome version;

First I need to know the location of the theme folder of the current version of Chrome; Mine is located at

    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\3.0.190.4*\Themes

(* new folder with current version of Chrome is created whenever there is an update to it)

    Go to
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\SendTo
and create a shortcut pointing to the above theme folder
name the shortcut to anything you fancy eg ChromeTheme

When changing themes, right click on the new default.dll and select Send To (whatever is the name of the shortcut that was created)

Chrome must be closed before changing any themes

When Chrome is updated, edit the shortcut to point to the theme folder of the current version of it.

There are many ways to skin a cat though; I use a file manager with at least 2 panels; one showing the location of the themes that I have accumulated and the other showing the theme folder of the current version of Chrome. This file manager can save the configurations and whenever there is a new version of Chrome, I merely delete previous configurations and save the new one.

Does anyone has a better idea?

a bat file with one line like:
    Code:
    copy /y %1 C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\3.0.190.4\Themes
could be great. just drag the .dll onto the bat and its there)
but it doesnt work for me =( hope if someone could make it.

ps. hope this isnt a vista-not-supporting-drag-and-drop-onto-cmd issue =(

but if you put d: instead of the chrome path, it works.
    Code:
    copy /y %1 d:
    upd.
    sulasno, try this:
    Code:
    copy /y %1 "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\3.0.190.4\Themes\"
i hope its obvious, that chrome must be closed when you drop the theme dll onto the .bat =)

of course it doesnt, vista has a different path to the chrome themes folder.
    use this in vista:
    Code:
    copy /y %1 "%USERPROFILE%\Appdata\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\3.0.193.0\Themes\"

I see the smiley - I hope you're just joking. You can buy Win7 for less than half the price of Vista. You can also still download Win7 release candidate for FREE. Believe me, (or not) Win7 runs faster and more stable than Vista, and it's very good on low-end and older hardware, not to mention that it runs inside of Virtual Machines much better than Vista.

While I think WinXP will be a good solid alternative for a long time to come, and I don't really recommend that anyone spend the money on upgrading, IF you're going to upgrade, go with Win7.

(If you REALLY want a GOOD upgrade, start shopping Linux - yeah, you might spend all your spare time for a week getting it installed, but once it's installed and set up "to your liking", you'll love it! And, the monetary cost is right - FREE!)
