Hello Guys And Girls,

Some of you may have noticed a Donate section on the sidebar at the front of the website. This has come about after much discussion between both members and moderators about general usability, management and overall user experience issues about the current forum software. There are a lot of new developments planned for ChromeSpot however the current software that is being used to run the forums is not as advanced as what is required to meet these developments, and therefor we have decided to go for a more professional based approach and look towards vBulletin Forum Software.

Now the issue comes about that vBulletin is not free, unlike SMF. It is quite costly however for the community to develop further it's an investment that we are willing to make. The initial purchase is $100 however anything over this amount would truly be amazing so we are asking our dedicated members that want to see ChromeSpot move forward to donate what they can, even if it's $1 or $10 it all counts.

This site is truly run on members passion and a community spirit, it's now your chance to show that you want the site to develop to it's full potential and secure ChromeSpots development. At the end of the day only YOU will benefit from the investment as we build and maintain the site for YOU to use.

For all of you that do donate you shall be thanked publically (unless you state otherwise) in this post which shall be updated. It's the least we can do. So please guys show your support for the community and donate a little today.

Guys,

the reasons for migrating to VB are posted above, none of the free/Open source software will do what we require to move ChromeSpot forward. We have looked at the free alternatives and found that none of them will do what we require, not to mention the security side of things.

People always have their opinions when it comes to professional solutions but vBulletin is one of the better, more secure forum softwares. At the end of the day the overall management will be easier, integration of mods and styling will be a lot better, not to mention the admins/mods have a background in vBulletin

Well I as well as the devs along with the other mods here decided to go with VB and it is set in stone as mentioned for obvious reasons.
