Anyone any idea where our site-administrator went to?
Anyone any idea where our site-administrator went to?
He (Rob) has been busy with personal issues ever since the switch to Vbulletin. Charlie is still around, but not as active. Haven't heard of the other admins in a while.
I'm doubting this..
I see them coming to this site on a regular base, why not post
while you're looking at other messages.. There must be a reason:
maybe.. they want to see how long a blog can survive without administrating
maybe.. they don't find it interesting any longer/are fighting
maybe.. it is a financial thing
maybe..
The fact is, there is a deliberate non-posting of administrator/moderators for whatever
reason; this is a bit sad, imo.
my 2 cents anyway..

I replied to your PM chinguetti. I still pop in to ensure all is well but was ill still a bit too and beta testing DVD neXt COPY Version 3 on top of that. I read the posts and ensure that there is nothing being posted as far as spam and such. A lot of other issues for most of us too is the money crunch, I know this has nothing to do with the forum but money crunches take peopl away from what they love to do as well. If a post is reported and such you can count on me popping in and removing it.
Thank you for replying Charlie.
Your answer gives us an idea what to expect.
What i still find odd, is that others aren't posting either. They can't be all sick
or busy with another forum.
Are there other moderators/administrators who like to follow Charlie's example
and explain things a little?
It can be a good idea to look for extra persons who can moderate/administrate
in the meanwhile, so the forum can continue to grow healthy.
Maybe there are new moderators that like to come forward and apply?

Well we don't want more chiefs than indians too on a forum otherwise bigger issues arise doing so. Hope you understand my metaphors.
Following your analogy, i would suggest we choose the people best fit for the job
at a certain moment.
In his work about the indians, 'Life amongst the Apaches', John Cremony also
describes a bit how the Apaches arranged their chieftainship. It his said that chiefs
were chosen for the occasion: who is most capable to do the job at a specfic time.
This way the tribe (aka internet-community) has a better chance to survive and
withstand the advance of other tribes..
If, for some reason, current moderator/administrator is no longer fit for the job, he
should speak (communication) and delegate (continuation) his tasks.
ugh.

Are you of the opinion that ChromeSpot has deteriorated into an unruly mob? If so, I couldn't disagree more: spammers and trouble-makers are taken care of fairly quickly...and that's the main job of an Admin.
It has gotten a little quiet here lately...if that's your concern, what are you doing to liven things up? (Besides this thread, I mean)
Very true Bill the main role in being an admin/mod is that peace is in order it is the community that keeps the forum active. Mods and such just ensure there is nothing getting out of hand.
I'm around too - mostly reading the troubleshooting forums when I pop in.
If you send me a PM or report a post, I'll be more than willing to check something out.
Don't worry, we haven't abandoned you all!
