I'm just curious... Rob, do you plan to keep using SMF or was it just something you used to quickly get the forum up?
What does everyone else think? Keep SMF or move to something like vb/ipb/phpbb?

ZenSix Hosting: Shared hosting starting at $25/year. Chrome convert on day one.
I am still learning this SMF don't care for it fully but I am used to VB or PHPBB too.
I kind of like this forum; easy on the eyes and fast loading. But I guess it's up to Rob.
My baby boy! Coming December 21st!
With smf being free he will most likely keep it. I asked if he was going VB and the cost is the main feature. Maybe he can get a donations system and if we all pitch in a few bucks it'll help?
I wouldn't mind donating some cash.
I actually like IPB ( example: http://hak5.org/forums ), but that's just me.
Have any of you guys used Invision Board? I've used all of these and this is the one I've always liked the most.
I have no preference TBH I am ok with this subigo is the one to start the thread. PHPBB is nicer I think but a pain in the arse to mod.
Invision is great. It was pretty easy to modify (coming from a non-programmer) and has some great mod controls and a great community.Originally Posted by Charlie
BTW, the ease of modification does not mean that the modifications are minor or streamlined, you can change every aspect of the board and the portal section is pretty hot as well.
Well I don't really care too much, it's just a personal preference.
But if Rob does decide to go with IPB, I've got $20 on it.
SMF is robust enough to handle things, at least in my experience. I've always been a fan of free solutions, and I like how much I've been able to hack it apart for my own needs.
IPB, vB, PHPBB are all fine solutions too, but I don't think there is any reason to switch, in my personal opinion. Maybe I'm just cheap and open-source oriented, though.
You did very well in the timing department. You're one of the top results for anything related to Chrome troubleshooting or plugins (or lack thereof, for the most part). For the time being, that will be a HUGE draw for you. Also, the more traffic/posts you get, the more indexable content there will be for google searches to find.Originally Posted by Rob
I'm glad I managed to find a community so interested and dedicated so early in the life of this project.
