Charlie is a bot etc but hes sexy
I have to agree I see no demand for this yet.
I think you are right Rob, however, with the numbers of new people rolling in, it seems that the existing forums, in some cases, need to be more clearly defined, as well as a better way of highlighting exiting stickies and maybe a quick rules/guidelines as posts have been duplicated or put in the wrong spots. Granted the mods or doing a good job keeping up with it, all the moving of posts is cluttering forums with dead topics.
I think the forum will be a bit smoother over the weekend when the subforums I requested get up and tweaking the wording on existing forums too. My hardest part is first thing in the morning when I have 8+ pages of new posts :P
I don't think we need any more boards for now, and if we do add additional boards, they should be related to Chrome (maybe some forums for the open-source side of things or something).
Larger forums that lose focus tend to lend themselves to a smaller memberbase who only stay there because of their existing status. Potential new users are unlikely to want to join a forum without purpose.
A few off topic boards are okay, but they can't dominate the focus, the existential drive of the original boards.
Agreed, one source of confusion I see right now it the General Chrome Forum is defined as "Anything and Everything Related to Google Chrome" which is leading to a lot of posts that belong in more focused forums.Originally Posted by Rob
Well I submitted my ideas just need to look for that thread. I think it is related to the forum.
I don't think themes should have it's own forum. Rather a forum devoted to hacks/mods (maybe merge it with plug-ins/add-ons too?). Then you can make Themes a sticky. That's my 2 cents :].Originally Posted by Rob
hacks/mods is the same as plug-ins/add-ons
What needs done I think is the plugins needs to stay a subforum call plugin request is needed to move those posts as people new users may think there are some. Under customizations there needs to be a sub forum or under the plugins called themes as well I think.
Yeah. I agree on the plug-in request part. Since there are no actual plug-ins right now, but when plug-ins do start appearing, the requests should be separated with the actual plug-ins. Makes things less confusing.
