Default Voting system to support wanted features/functionalities in Chrome

The present system for rating what people think of users' suggestions for features/functionalities in the Chrome browser is.. well, there isn't one.
It must be quite difficult for the dev's to tell which ideas are popular with the masses and which just get a lot of attention; which threads are busy because they've gone off topic, or whatever.

Why not have a voting or rating system, so for each idea there is a poll. The more votes or the higher the rating a suggestion gets, the more coding time should be given to it... or something. You catch my drift anyway

Also there are quite a lot of double posts, where people are not searching before posting their ideas - but this way the scores of two similar suggestions could just be added together.

Just an idea - what d'ya think? Shall we cast a vote?
    I didn't get where I am today.

Well yeah, I keep replying to people's suggestions with stuff like, "Great idea, but the ability to display real-time bass fishing sonar as a semi-transparent overlay for when you're out fishing with your laptop, will most likely surface as a plug-in/extension, rather than be integrated into the main code of the Chrome browser itself!"

Please excuse my sarcasm, but some people really don't think before saying stuff. They've been so spoilt with all the extensions for Firefox, I'm sure they've forgotten that half of the things they use everyday are not actually part of the browser - they're add-ons.
It would be like expecting the OS to have all your highly specialised software built in from new.

Well looking at the growing number of Views for each entry in the Google Chrome Requests & Suggestions forum, it seems that people are voting with their mice already for ideas they like the look of.
Sadly though, if somebody hasn't done well with their thread heading, they won't get read as much. Fact of life I guess - first impressions definitely do count

Yea, it's like judging a book by its cover: You really shouldn't do it because the cover doesn't tell you anything close to how good the book will be, but we all do it anyway and really have no choice. :P
