    Default Chrome = Safari?!

This is the browser ID I get via my server:

    Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US) AppleWebKit/525.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/0.2.149.27 Safari/525.13

So is chrome based on safari?

Chrome is based on the webkit rendering engine. Safari as well. That's why you get this.

That's actually the user agent string...

It's basically there to help Chrome receive content from sites that cater to specific browsers.
