Default I just got my first Trojan today while using Chrome

... and by "first Trojan", I mean first Trojan. I've been virus/infection free now for more years than I can count.

I have been using Firefox religiously for years, with the invaluable NoScript add-in always installed and running.

I decided to try Google Chrome, and I liked what I saw. So, I started using it more ... until today.

Since I got an infection, I have tried searching for a NoScript-type add-in, and came up with nothing.

Does anybody know where I can get a NoScript-style add-in? I hope somebody has come up with something by now. If Google Chrome won't support something like NoScript, Google must be planning on always being a second-tier player in the browser market.

The only reason you get trojans is when you visit non-friendly sites... EDIT: or hacked...

Plugins are not yet available (Google should be working on it), which means that there are no scripts yet available like the one you described.

Hmmm ... Let's see which non-friendly sites I visited today. Checking my short list of sites that I visited today with my Google Chrome browser:
    • Amazon.com
    • KettleFoods.com
    • Astronomy Picture of the Day (nasa.gov)
    • FreshAndEasy.com

Pretty non-friendly, huh? One of the main reasons I run NoScript in Firefox is that even the honest webpage owners don't know when they've been hijacked. My wife (who sadly uses Internet Explorer) got an infection notice a few weeks ago when she went to the website of a popular restaurant here in town. All she did was go to the main page. Fortunately, I had already installed a virus checker on her laptop when she wasn't looking.

I believe in safe browsing, and I do that by not trusting anybody's website. That's why I want protection.

Chrome will have to get archived for now, I guess. It's a shame, 'cause I liked the speed.

Once somebody has developed good protection, I'll jump back in. For now, I'm back to Firefox ...

    Cheers!

Although I completely agree that Chrome should get plug-ins ASAP, I recommend/and hope you are not simply relying on a plug-in for viruses. Get a virus scanner/firewall too.

Oh, I absolutely agree! I have a free 2-way firewall (COMODO), free anti-virus (AVG), and router. Keeps me pretty clean.

Since the main (if not "the only" **) way that viruses get into your computer is via the internet & javascript, I want a really good first-line of defense with a javascript manager that I can configure for websites that I want to trust.

** I could include Sony's rootkit virus install via their music CDs as an additional source, but that's an edge case. I always have AutoPlay turned off on my PC (highly recommended), so that isn't an issue.
