    Default Cloud Computing

Will Chrome enable us to be closer to a cloud computing world?

As it currently stands, it's actually further away in some respects, than IE or Firefox with Google Toolbar, because on those systems my bookmarks are synchronised between home and work (And wherever else I might want to log in).

But I've got to imagine that's where they're heading with this. Faster javascript means they can do more with Google Docs etc. which reduces the advantages of standard desktop applications.

I hope they stay pure with this - for example Chrome doesn't have an RSS reader, because its reader is Google Reader, or whatever other web-based reader you might want to use. All it needs is some mechanism to automatically redirect RSS links directly to whatever your reader of choice is.

And the way Google Toolbar implements custom buttons is exactly how Chrome should tackle extensions - they're essentially just mini pop-up web pages.
