    Default Chrome OS specifications

There surely is a lot of buzz on the internet about Chrome OS, but not many people have seen it so far.

Unfortunately not much has been leaked (only some fake stuff; http://blogs.computerworld.com/chrom...ures_and_specs) about it only that it won't be a replacement for Android (different market segment).

Anyone want to guess to what the specs will be of this new OS? Seems there is very little info except that it'll be based on Linux (but then again, what 'new' OS isn't?).

All I want to see is gOS to make wine integrated into the OS so you can easily use it and install stuff without the technical details you have to go through on Linux.

Well that is already quite easy to do with Gnome or KDE; mostly it is already done. Problem is that still most software doesn't run under Wine or needs some tweaking. But if you , for instance, use crossover office and connect that to an .exe file handler, it's like starting Windows apps.

I would like to know how to know when an OS update is available. Is it usually promoted at this site? Or is it in the Chrome OS and bells ring when available? My current is the standard 2.0.172.37/

Chrome OS is not Google Chrome Browser. To check for the browser updates unless it has changed it will check when you click:

The wrench at the top right then click about.

Google OS is what is going in some or mostly all the new netbooks.

Default Gdrive important element of Chrome OS?

Some speculation on Chrome OS and the Gdrive

    http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives...cal_gdrive.php

I think online storage functionality like the Gdrive well integrated in an operation system could be quite attractive. Still most people will have preference to have also access to their documents when they are offline.
