The only way I can sum it up is "See MAC Defender".
No OS will ever be 100% safe from malware, trojans, viruses or any type of software that acts in a way a user does not want it to.
You can't install an anti-virus software in Chrome OS. You even can't install any legacy software. Security of Chrome OS should be really strong and it is improving all the time, but no software is bulletproof. Even Windows with the best antivirus software isn't bulletproof. However you can feel safe in Chrome OS without any fear.
Since, the majority of people are using Windows OS as it has more functions and applications, the hackers are also making viruses for Windows OS. This helps them target a larger audience and victimize them. Therefore, viruses for Chrome would be often today. But as the OS grows and makes its place in the market, it will catch the attention of hackers as well and ultimately result in new viruses and hacking attempts on Chrome OS based nodes.
