    Default StumbleUpon web-toolbar

You can check this out at:
    http://sutoolbar.co.cc

Everything that's supposed to be working should be working now. Everything you visit using the toolbar is reported to StumbleUpon, just like the real thing.
Titles should be fixed as well.
If you want to report your visited urls to StumbleUpon right away, click on the "ReportStumbles" link on the right side:

    Limitations:
    • You can't submit a new page to StumbleUpon.
This means that when you click a link in a website, if you click the Thumbs up or down, it will change the rating for the original page you stumbled on, not the page you clicked on.
    • Some webpages might use a 'frame-buster' script which will basically take you out of the SU bar and only display their webpage. To fix this, visit http://subar.1stfreehosting.com/login.php, and login again.
    • StumbleUpon might block the website from getting any more recommendations. Can't really fix this.
    • Some webpage titles might not show up, or may look weird. Please report these to me.

DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for any damage this may cause your account, your computer, or anything else.
I do not store your password in any way. It gets hashed (SHA1) and salted, and then stored in a cookie, which is stored on your computer.

If you care to look, you can see the source code for the login.php file at http://sutoolbar.co.cc/login.phps. login.phps is a symbolical link to login.php. I don't really know how to explain what that is, but what you see there is the actual source code, in its entirety, of the login.php page you use, in real time. It's not a copy of the file.

    ---

I'm a regular StumbleUpon user, and Chrome doesn't have support for extensions or toolbars yet. So, I started building a web-toolbar for StumbleUpon. It's still a work in progress, and I haven't actually had any time to use it.

I'm just not sure if anyone else would appreciate using it; and, of course, there'll be people who just won't give their password to some webpage like this.
Should I even bother putting it up somewhere for people to use? Or is there something else like this other people are using that I haven't noticed? Any implications I should be aware of?
Anyone interested? Some screen shots are attached.

I would really enjoy this. I miss having StumpleUpon when I'm using Chrome.

How did you manage to make this?

This isn't really a plugin, but sweet. (I hope you saw that it's just a frameset with the bar in the top frame, not an actual part of the browser).

It's made with PHP and some javascript for the bar. The server makes all the requests, so this could also be used when you can't access StumbleUpon where you're at. I'll keep working on it.
Although I'm thinking that StumbleUpon might block the IP if too many users are making requests from the same IP...

I also don't have anywhere to host it, haha...

    Yep I'd definitly be interested!

In theory, regarding the login details, couldn't someone simply log into the stumbleupon website directly then fire up your frame-trickery and let the stored cookie keep you logged in?

I wish, but no. Cookies are bound to specific domains, depending on who set it. Otherwise, advertisers could track what websites you've visited.
And, of course, you send all those cookies every time you make a request for something. That could be a potential bandwidth waster.

I'm also having issues getting the address of the bottom frame (in case you thumbs up something after clicking on several links, which isn't already submitted.), since for the same privacy reasons, you can only access the details of a frame that is loaded with a page on the same domain as the frame you're trying to access it from.

Ok, so I finally put up a beta at http://subar.site90.com/.

Here's the limitations right now, that I can remember:
    1. The pages you visit using this are not reported to StumbleUpon, so SU isn't aware that you have already visited that website. I'm still trying to get this to work, or I might have to simply store the urls you've already visited and try to give you something new.
    2. You can't submit a new page to StumbleUpon
    3. Some webpages might use a 'frame-buster' script which will basically take you out of the SU bar and only display their webpage. To fix this, simply visit http://subar.site90.com/login.php, which will log you out; then login again.
    4. StumbleUpon might block the website from getting any more recommendations. Can't really fix this.
    5. Some webpage titles might not show up, or may look weird. Please report these to me.

You see this page, because the system administrator of 000webhost.com is currently checking this website for malicious content. This redirect will be removed once we will finish manually checking all files on this account. As far we check over 100 websites, it can take about 2-4 hours to complete. If you are the owner of this website, you will get email confirmation once it's done. If you are a visitor - please come back later.
I guess I will try it again soon. I really want a StumbleUpon add-on.
