Installing themes

I'm new user of chrome browser but would like to change the theme. Downloaded a few, put the default .dll in the correct directory but still, the same blue theme.
Can somebody help?

Make sure you're using an appropriate version of Chrome and/or theme. I know there are two different formats...

how do you install a chrome theme in the first place? I went to the official website for google chrome and I found the directions to change the "username" in the address for the file; but I still find it slightly complicated. Is there a simpler way to install the google chrome themes?

Themes are supplied in the form of a "new" default.dll and a text file explaining how to install it. First, quit Chrome. Once you unzip your new theme file, you'll have two files: a new "default.dll" and a text file explaining how to install it. First, locate the folder mentioned in the text file. You'll see the default.dll that is originally installed with Chrome. I suggest you rename this to something like "default original.dll" so you can restore it if you need to. Now, drag the new default.dll that you just unzipped into this folder. Restart Chrome and the new theme should take effect.

How do you install a theme for chrome with the .crx extension with no instructions on how to install it? I d/led the file from this forum it's the berries themes, I'm trying to convert them with TheMorph2 to work with the new version of chrome and have no clue where to install them to if I get the conversion to work , lol . I know nothing on how to type in a path in C: prompt but I'm giving it a try
