    Default Windows Application Error 0xc0000022

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome multiple times, but always get an Application Error of 0xc0000022.

After a quick search on the Internet, I tried going to the system32 folder and creating the group Everyone with read/execute access to MSVBVM60.DLL, but that didn't work. Neither did granting the same access to the entire system32 folder.

I'm running XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 SP3. I do have Avast! Home Edition as my virus protection, but other than that I am not sure of anything that may cause the same problem. I haven't been able to find others with this particular error.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry nobody has had any insight for your problem yet. Do you get this error when you start the Chrome installer, or after it downloads the *real* installer?

It could be that Chrome installs itself in a somewhat odd place by most standards. Do you have a "Documents and Settings\scolburn\Local Settings\Application Data\Google" folder?

    1. Right click on the Chrome icon and select properties and add "--no-sandbox" to the end of Target
    ("C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --no-sandbox)

Try that and see if it works.

I keep forgetting to suggest that.

If it works, it might be a good workaround for all sorts of issues in this first beta.

Agreed, it seems to be a pretty unstable aspect of Chrome atm.

This happens after the installation, when I actually try to run Chrome. It commits the application error and then opens the program, but without the ability to go to any sites, as the same error is committed with any site I try to go to.

The --no-sandbox trick did work. Thank you for all of the help. Hopefully they will issue a fix to this soon.

I'm with baroo; the sandbox trick didn't work. I just got a window that said (The name "'C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --no-sandbox' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct.) I feel bad about restarting this thread again, but I'm getting fed up with IE!!
