Click tools, always show bookmarks bar. To save a new bookmark, click on the star to the left of the URL box, then click close (or remove if you change your mind).

Thanks. I'm not sure how I missed the star. It's there!

And I agree, it's not absolutely necessary, since I rarely bookmark anymore--that's what Google search in the address bar is for!--but I do like to have my most used sites right at the top of the browser.

I do think that bookmarks could be beefed out a little, but probably by an extension. And yes, sometimes you just miss the simple aspects of the interface because they're SO simple.

Okay stupid question: Now that I found the "star" where do the bookmarks go? I cannot find them anywhere. <sigh>

Okay, well CTRL-B opens up the "other bookmarks" for me. At one point I managed to have 1 native-chrome bookmark in this same area on the left hand side, now all it says is "For Quick access, place you bookmarks here in the bookmarks bar." I am assuming that this is a placeholder that will diseapear when actual bookmarks are made. Now I've made about 20 bookmars using the "Star" but they do not appear in this location. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
