Default so small but so annoying

Is there ANY way to make links open in the same tab?

if im looking through a photo album and I click a photo I want it to open in the same tab and then I'll use backspace to go back and click the next.

on IE7 it behaves like this by default.

on FF I can change an option in about:config to make it do this (used to use tab mix plus add-on)

in safari and opera I can't make it do this (so I don't use them)

is there ANY way to make this otherwise outstanding browser handel links like this?

    I don't understand your question.

When you click a link it opens in a new tab?

Use your middle mouse button to click on a link and it will open it up in a Tab.

I understand his issue because I have it too. And I don't consider it small. In FF when I right click on a link to open in a new tab it automatically takes me to the new tab. I don't have to go click on the tab after it's opened. This is an option in FF. I really hope they include this in the final version. It's a real time saver for me.

Yep this works. Nice I've been wondering how to do this myself. It should be an option in the settings though.

No you don't understand at all apparently

I click a link and it opens in the same tab, but, if im visiting online art galleries etc (basically anything with the the attribute Target="_blank" or "_new") I click a picture and it opens in a new tab

I want it to open in the same tab like it does in IE / FF with tabmix plus

it gets even worse, if I click a link to open a gallery of other pictures each one opens in a new tab - I end up with 3, 4 or 5 tabs when I just want one I can open and then hit backspace to go back out of after I've had a look at the image.

normal text hyper links aren't a problem generally.

I can't use middle click or anything like that before you start I'm on a laptop

I don't see why they took away the ability to control how your tabbed browsing works... surely options are the best way to make your browser suitable to each user/purpose?

no worries, i do too. just i don't find it too, annoying. Its quite good for just clicking on 50 pages you want then close the ones you dont want. otherwise doing the old method can be very annoying. Me thinks the shift + middle button is quite a good idea!
