    Question Chrome causing memory problem

I've had a problem develop today that appears to rest with Google Chrome.

I'm running Chrome on Windows 7, and havent had a problem over the last two months or so since I switched to Chrome.

Now, when I open Chrome, I've noticed that it has begun to eat up my memory resources.
The confusing thing is that in the task manager, Chrome doesn't appear to actually be taking up more memory. With a couple of tabs open it appears to be steady around 60k. However, when I check the Performance tab of the task manager, the "Physical Memory Usage History" shows a steady, linear rise until it reaches about 99%.

Does anybody think this is a Chrome problem, a Windows problem, or an unrelated (i.e. virus) problem?

The only processes are 'Browser' and then the 'Tab (diagnostics)'.

I opened that tab a number of times, and while Windows resource monitor is showing a steady rise in memory use, Chrome itself isn't reporting using any more memory. With one or two tabs open, the diagnostic tab shows:
    Private memory approx. 75k
    Total memory approx. 92k
    Virtual Private approx. 65k
    Virtual Mapped approx. 35k

Resource monitor still shows 99% RAM usage after a minute or two, and drops back to normal after force exit.

I don't think I've installed any extensions, all I am really running was the standard install.

Also, I've already tried to uninstall and reinstall, twice. Same thing happening.

i've got the so-called 'stable' version. I'd really like to use it but I cant if it's going to pull the drain on all my system resources.
