    Default Spell Check No Longer Working

    My spell checker keeps going defunct. It'll still underline a misspelled word, but instead of giving suggestions when I right-click, it now wants me to Google the word. I leave my PC on all the time and if I do a system restore back to a date I know the checker was working, it works fine again...for awhile. Perhaps it's updating and the new version doesn't have spell checker? I don't know, but it sure is frustrating. I've checked the tools to make sure spell checker is on and it is. But don't ask me what version I'm running, because I'm not THAT savvy. Anyone else have this issue or know about it? I read about one other person experiencing it with the Beta version? but not sure why I'd be running that. I just downloaded whatever version it had available and went with that. Please help, I don't want to switch to Firefox just for the spell checker.

    Okay, I may be onto something here. I just did a restore back to when it was working and it says I'm running version 3.0.195.38 . So maybe the problem is when it updates. Now just got to figure out how to stop it from doing that.

    depending on your OS there are 2 files to be deleted / disabled to stop Chrome from updating;

    IIRC one is located in the start up folder and the other is in scheduled task

    I found the files to delete in Scheduled Tasks, but never found the right Start Up folder. We'll see how this goes. I've read where most people aren't having any problems with the upgrade, guess I'm just one of the lucky few. BTW I did find 3 Cache folders in Google . Can I just delete those?

    start | run | msconfig
    startup | google update

    when you clear the cache, the contents of the Cache folders will be removed

    OK tried everything. Even finally resorted to uninstall and reinstall google chrome and spell check is STILL not working correctly. I give up. Anyone know of a decent online spell checker I can download?
