    Default chrome performance

Hi, i used chrome because i was convinced by the comic strip you had saying that it would be better if each tab would create another process.

Before, I was using firefox and since i'm a developer i have my eclipse open which as you may also know consumes to much memory.

But i noticed that when i started using chrome and opened many tabs. My computer would sometimes experience a slowdown. It's good that i'm using a different machine for my mysql and apache server.

It's still really fast but it just keeps each tab it's own process a insted of a 40,000 kb(?) process it's 4 10,000kb(?) processes.

Thats what I got from the comic.

Chronel - make sure you have DNS pre-fetching disabled. For me, this locked up my Chrome all the time.

it's starting to bother me now. when i try using chrome for sometime and after a while decided to switch to another application like word. i takes a little while. while it's tolerable though.

and also. yes, superTom i've turned it off. but what's the use of turning the DNS pre-fetching options off anyway?

If the browser is trying to pre-fetch elements that are not later called for, then it can cause latency. Maybe the pages you visit often are doing just that.

Disabling the anti phishing and malware protection done it for me, hell the HD IO's were running off the scale with 34% cpu usage. Firefox 3 was the same using the built in anti phishing and malware protection.

DNS prefetching is working nicely. Mind you I have the windows DNS client service turned off, and am using Acrylic DNS proxy service. http://mayakron.altervista.org/opens...tegory=Windows it is friggen fast.

Nofoil, you speak the truth. I just turned picked installed Acrylic and turned off all the 'Under the Hood' options... Man, this thing is fast now. Memory usage dropped maybe 10% or so. Nothing astronomical, but better.
