    Default Segmentation fault

    Hi all,

my OS is Debian Squeeze. I have downloaded the newest version of google chrome browser ( from Google Chrome - Get a fast new browser. For PC, Mac, and Linux ) two days ago and everything went well. Next day, after reboot, browser didn't start. When I started it from terminal, it said only "Segmentation fault". Result of dmesg is:
    Code:
    [ 547.360338] chrome[3601]: segfault at 4 ip a894114e sp b17085e4 error 4 in libGL.so.1.2
Can someone tell me, what is wrong? How to fix it? Or at least where to download an older version ( I had v9 before ). Thanks.

    Best regards,
    Fico

You can try to install chromium from debian repository: Debian -- Details of package chromium-browser in squeeze. It version looks old, but it is only 1-2 years old. So, for most of users this version should be ok - google updates version numbers quickly, that's why there is no much difference between various versions of chrome.

Yes, I use it as alternative to chrome for now. But chromium renders all pages incorrectly on my system and besides, google chrome is more different from it. I use chrome a long time ( approximately two years ), so it's best browser for me and I want it back.

Sorry, but how is this connected with my problem? Can you explain it closer, please?

    Thanks in advance and regards,

You can ignore comments of nikhelg - this is a spammer whose only goal is to drop a link. His account will be removed soon.

I have Chrome 9 on debian squeeze. I don't have deb, however. If you want - I can targz it and send to you. This does not guarantee that your problem will be solved, but you can try it. Let me know if you're interested.

Yes, of course, you can send me this package. Well, maybe I will determine, whether this error occurs only in last version of the browser. Thank you for help.

    Kind regards,

Great, it wokrs! There are still little errors after starting the browser ( visible only in terminal ), but this is not significantly for me now. Only for info, maybe it is not so difficult to repair it:
    Code:
[3391:3391:1616469448:ERROR:chrome/browser/extensions/extension_prefs.cc(728)] Bad or missing pref 'state' for extension 'ahfgeienlihckogmohjhadlkjgocpleb'
[3391:3403:1616494309:ERROR:chrome/browser/webdata/web_data_service.cc(579)] Cannot initialize the web database: 2
I just made a symbolic link /usr/bin/google-chrome, that refers to /opt/google/chrome/google-chrome. I hope, that was a good way to do it.

As I said, I am happy, that I have my favorite browser back. So thank you very much for your time and help.

    Kind regards,
    Fico
