    Default Browser Lock-ups

    Hi,

I searched the common problems thread and I couldn't find anything related to my problem. Every once in a while my browser locks up for a few seconds. Sometimes text will take a while to appear in text boxes (while searching Google, for example) and sometimes the browser won't respond at all for a few seconds.

What could be the problem? I'm running Windows XP SP3 on a roughly 4 year old laptop with 2 gigs of RAM and a 1.73 GHz Pentium M processor.

    That's an interesting one.

Here's an exercise you could do to see if it tells you anything: Try browsing for a while with both the windows task manager and the chrome task manager open. When it locks up, see if you can identify which process is causing it.

Anyone else have ideas? I haven't seen anything like this one so far.

That's a good idea, Ho0ber!! I get the problem as well, and I think opening up the task manager should be able to track it down.

I've been only following with the Chrome task manager, and one thing I've noticed is that when the lockups occur, there seems to be no network traffic. It only resumes once the browser returns from day-dreaming.

It might be a network connection problem. When the problem pops up try opening the same site on other browser and see if it behaves same way.

It's got nothing to do with the network. Even if there is no connection at that point, the browser shouldn't lock up! Besides, it'd be very hard to check because by the time I get another browser open and onto that page, Chrome would've become stable again.

Could be a problem with SP3? Have you tried the newest Chromium build by any chance?

I'm currently running what I think is the latest build (although the "About Chromium" won't tell me, it says "Update server not available (error: 4)")

Build 2453 is availible now. Here is the link to it and what ever it says on the change log.
