# 7,4,3,2,1. are good. MS Security Essentials are good too when it gets released.
I use avast(paid for) and malwarebytes which is free and is the only one I know of which gets rid of root kits which spawn and duplicate viruses. But for free I would go with AVG as it is one of the only free virus scanners that delete too.
mcafee and malwarebytes (free) and windows defender..
I have a Ghost image of a fresh install customized just the way I like it, on an external drive.
So if/when I get infected or something breaks, I just back up my recent work and ghost the image onto my hard drive.
I always have a fresh clean PC, and no need for antivirus.
Besides if you really want a secure PC, install Linux.
But as for the ones I've tried in the past and recommend, AVG Free and KIS are my choice.

i use avg
besides it being free, i think it really works well as an anti virus, i used avast before but i think it doesn't really detect viruses, i experienced some virus symptoms but it still insisted there's no virus in my pc
